This was the first time I saw dusting a hive with powdered sugar create an accelerated hive beetle kill. I was using the powdered sugar to see how many Varroa mites would drop. This was less than 15 minutes after the hive was put back together! You can see some of the sugar is still dry. We later ran trials and found the sugar dust irritates the bees causing them to vigorously chase the beetles - right into the 0il pan.
